Today’s theme for the “This is Halloween” Nail Challenge is Bats. I think out of all the themes thus far, this one was by far the hardest for me to interpret. When I think of bats, I think of Batman and vampires, but I really didn’t want to do either, so I just went on the literal route for this one. Below is a picture of the colors I used for this manicure. Note that I didn’t have a picture that I liked of the colors, but I’ll update this tomorrow when I have a better picture.
I decided to paint the bats flying in the night sky. For the sky I used Sally Hansen Blue It and used China Glaze Fairy Dust for the stars. I think that it added a nice, subtle sparkle. Next came the moon, which I used my blue dotting tool and Sally Hansen White Tip to create it. Initially, I planned the moon to be a bit smaller, however, I kept making it look oval-like, instead of a circle. Each addition made the moon larger and larger… to the end result, which is around half of my nail.
I then used It’s So Easy Stripe Rite in black to draw the two bats. One bat is on my thumb, along with the moon, and the other is on the ring finger. Below are pictures of the two accent nails. Both were taken indoors, without flash, and under a CFL bulb.
Below are pictures of the completed manicure under three different light settings.
It’s definitely not my favorite manicure, as I think the moon and bats actually ruined it. I actually liked it more when it was just Blue It and Fairy Dust. XD Oh well, ya win some, ya lose some.
And… on a final, unrelated note, I got my Zoya Gilty Pleasures Trio earlier this afternoon and I’m super excited to try them all out! 😀 I’ll be posting an overall post about it tomorrow!
